My first ever post on this site was a review of Robb Bank$’s EP with Chris Travis and his 2phoneshawty mixtape so I owed it to nostalgia to review Bank$’s latest drop. Coincidentally, Bank$ brings us a release from that very same EP – a video for “24/7”. The Katai-directed sequence features some of the most staggering visuals I have seen from the very start as the video opens up displaying some extremely rapid-fire shots (of a blackbuck it would seem) that build up with the intro as filters changed color and culminated in an unstead shot of Bank$ crouching on an open space that feels like the moon.
The director manages to perfectly capture that hazy yet visceral Robb Bank$ vibe with contrasting rapid and slow shots that will throw you from one end of the spectrum to the next, leaving you either disoriented or hypnotized at any given time. The greyscale used for much of the video just makes the colors that appear briefly look gorgeous.
Shit is like a rollercoaster with the most fluid changes of pace ever. The way they captured IndigoChildRick’s verse with this super slow-mo effect that made you feel like the director was using one of those old ass flip phone cameras completed the eerie opus, leaving you dazed after an incredibly perceptually stimulating experience.
Not for the weak.
